Why A ‘Gym For The Soul?’

We are made up of ‘Mind,’ ‘Body’ and ‘Soul,’ but the soul is the most neglected part. We tend to pay significant attention to our physical and mental wellbeing, but what about our inner core, the silent and sensitive part of us that absorbs all that we experience? We believe that the ‘soul,’ much like our brain and body also requires encouragement, strengthening, understanding, empathy and healing in order to maintain its fitness, flexibility, strength and overall good health.

In many languages the word for soul is the same as breath. We are our breath and breath is life. Through breathwork we learn to become more present, grounded and connected to ourselves and each other, instead of stuck in our heads with a body which can sometimes feel separate and foreign.

It is through gaining this connection with the breath that we begin to gain rich qualities such as clarity, positive energy, inner harmony and healing.

How Does It Work?

Breathwork involves breathing techniques which calm the body and mind and regulate the nervous system. These can be part of your overall care plan package, or a stand alone form of therapy. Sessions can be in person or online. We will train and guide you through a unique workout that aims to condition, boost and prolong your ‘soul health.’

What Are The Benefits?

When you feel stressed, your breath tends to become fast and shallow, limiting the oxygen entering your bloodstream. Your brain tells your body that there is a threat, and your body responds in fight or flight.

When you take time to breathe deeply and slowly, you tell your brain that everything is OK. Your brain communicates to your body that it’s safe to relax. The fight or flight response decreases, and your body can begin to function normally again. The way we breathe creates and controls our state of consciousness and our state of consciousness influences the way we breathe.

It is through this practice and workout in the ‘gym for the soul’ that the breath is able to release individuals from the effects of negative experiences and repressed trauma, in order for emotions to gradually and safely emerge. This release helps individuals to feel the gentle effect of catharsis, calmness, peace of mind and the beginnings of freedom from tension and the burden of emotional pain.

We hope to guide you through your journey of breathwork towards your own self-development, transformation, or simply learning more about who you are and hope to be.
